Who? Forget Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez – 18-year-old Sophie from Chiswick, West London, is the next big Disney Channel star to watch.
What’s the story? A happy-ever-after has long been on the cards for former Putney High School student Sophie, who had her first audition – for High School Musical on Stage! – at seven, nabbing a part as a cheerleader. Balancing schoolwork with acting (‘I would audition on the Monday and catch up on the Tuesday’), she was snapped up by an agent following an A-level performance – and quickly secured the lead role in Disney Channel UK’s teen musical drama The Lodge.

Disney Princess The Lodge centres on Sophie’s character Skye, who moves from the city to the Northern Irish countryside to help run a hotel following her mother’s death. All-singing and all-dancing, it confronts real teen issues. ‘As well as dealing with bereavement and the stress of running a lodge at 15, she is also falling in love and navigating friendships,’ says Sophie, who admits that she ‘never really sang or danced’ before joining the cast. ‘I didn’t think I was going to get the job!’ The first series was broadcast in 109 countries last year, becoming one of Disney Channel UK’s highest-rated programmes, and series two hits screens this week. ‘I’m so proud to be a part of it.’
