The Highest Paid College Football Players
Quick Links
Officially, these guys are still amateurs. They do not get paid to play football; instead, they are in college to study, learn, and earn a degree that will help them later on in life. They play football on the side, maybe as a hobby or as a chance to continue with a game they have loved since they were kids. Or maybe they play football because the scholarship it provides is their way to get through college.
We all know that college football programs are practically professional organizations that just so happened to be affiliated with the university. They rake in millions from the revenues earned through ticket sales, merchandise and television rights. One only has to check the frenzy during game days, especially during season-ending bowls or during rivalry games like Ohio State against Michigan, Florida versus Georgia, and Alabama versus Auburn.
Powerful and popular teams like Texas and archrivals Michigan and Notre Dame are all valued at more than $100 million. Then, there are the powerful Southeastern Conference teams, which have won the last seven national championships through titles by Louisiana State University, Auburn, Florida twice and Alabama thrice.
So if football programs will finally give the players their due, how much will the best players earn? Based on their talent, skills, marketability and the revenue of their respective teams, here now are the highest paid college football players.
